"Now I Have a Heart, Because it's Breaking" Bsc Mystery Book 13: Mary Anne and The Library Mystery

I haven't really read much of this book. The only things I remembered from reading this book was Mary Anne watching Roman Holiday in the first chapter of this book, and a couple of books being burnt . Don't really remember much afterwards.

On the cover:

Not much to say on this cover. Only Mary Anne should choose a much better sweater. And why does Rosie Wilder look like Mallory Pike on this cover? And what's with the yellow shoes on Rosie? You would think the girl would start wearing better clothing considering she's an actress and all. Oh well.

Plot:  It  all starts with Mary Anne getting a case of the blues, because Dawn's in California spending time with her family and friends there (and kinda forgetting about Mary Anne), Logan playing volleyball and spending time with his friends, and Mallory dealing with a case of mono (aka the Kissing Disease). So Mary Anne is pretty much having a case of the blues and she spends some time watching the Roman Holiday film with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory peck in it, and looking forward to the Bsc meeting.

While she's at the Bsc meeting, Mrs. Kishi appears and asks the girls if they would like to work as volunteers for the Readathon at the Stoneybrook Public Library, where Mrs. Kishi works. Mary Anne decides to volunteer to help take her mind off of missing Logan and Dawn too much. Once Mary Anne starts working there as a volunteer , all of a sudden a fire breaks out near the boys bathroom in a trash can.  Mrs. Kishi deals with it and learns that a book is burnt. It turned out to be a copy of a book called "To Kill a Mockingbird". The girls are shocked and they start investigating.

Then another fire breaks out shortly after the first one, and this time it's a copy of a Judy Blume book called "Beenie'. So the girls start listing suspects. They at first thought Miss Ellway, one of the new workers at the Stoneybrook Public Library, was causing the fires, since Miss Ellway came from a wealthy background and her family used to own land where the library resides and Miss Ellway seemed to be unfriendly and unsociable. They also think Nicky Pike was a suspect since they found a couple of matches in Nicky's coat and since Nicky seemed to not want to participate in the Readathon. They also suspect the protestors too, who wants to ban the books that's on the reading list, thinking they are not good for children and all other things.

But the girls soon learn that Nicky Pike was innocent along with Miss Ellway , once they learn that Nicky was telling the truth and that Miss Ellway and her family are really nice and generous people. So the girls asks the protestors if they were somehow involved with the fires, which one of them by the name of Bertha Dow (who would later appear in Bsc Friends Forever Book 5: Kristy Power) admitted to burning books back then (which led to her getting arrested, and has since stopped doing that) , but wasn't responsible for burning the books in the library as well as the other protestors. So the Bsc decides to check out the library and find out who is causing the fires.

It later turns out to be Sean Addison, who was caught trying to light up a Abraham Lincoln book with a silver lighter and some matches. So the Bsc catches Sean and takes him to Mrs. Kishi's office, where Mrs. Kishi talks to Sean and his parents, and the parents agree to seek family therapy and to get Sean some special treatment. So the book ends with the Bsc going to the Readathon ceremony and Sarah Hill, Marilyn Arnold, and Nicky Pike winning some awards and Mary Anne getting honors and Mary Anne deciding to volunteer at the Stoneybrook Public Library once in a while. The End.

1. Mary Anne gets teary -eyed  whenever she watches Roman Holiday. I need to rewatch that film when I get a chance.

2. Logan plays volleyball in this book. I wonder if he continues to play volleyball later on in the series. Also I thought he only played baseball and football as well as track and field?

3. Betsy Sobak (who caused Claudia's leg to break in Book 19; Claudia and the Bad Joke), Rosie Wilder, and Sarah and Norman Hill (who everyone picked on for being big in Book 50: Dawn's Big Date) makes an appearance in this book, along with Sean and Corrie Addison.

4. I agree with Mary Anne about the books being banned and I personally find it stupid to ban books. I mean kids are going to be curious about a lot of things and you can't always blame it on books. Not to mention things like divorce, pregancy, rape, murder, drugs, and bullying does exist in this world. And you can't always blame it on books.

5. Someone remind me to read the book called "To kill a Mockingbird'. Also remind me to watch the movie too. Cause there are a lot of references to that book and I'm curious.

6. I think Nicky Pike, Rosie  Wilder, and Charlotte Johanssen should seriously form a junior detective league . They are kinda better than the Bsc. And I think they are better than Karen Brewer.

7.  Claudia outfit:
  • big white shirt over a bright pink jumpsuit
  • bright pink earrings (flamingo shaped)
  • pink high- tops
8. Stacey Outfit:
  • red  miniskirt
  • red & white  striped shirt
  • red heart-shaped earrings
  • short black boots
I think  I  like  Stacey's outfit better than Claudia's in this one.....though pink is my favorite color and red is my signature color.

9. Sean Addison seriously has some major issues he needs to work on. Don't blame him much though. I blame his parents. Maybe Charlotte Pickles and Drew Pickles from the Rugrats, Cartman's Mom from Southpark, Helga's parents from hey Arnold, Peter and Lois Griffin from Family Dad, and Nelson's mom from the Simpsons should take notes and learn a thing or two from Sean's family.

alright book, but could of been better though.

Bsc 30 Day Challenge Day 3: Favorite Regular Book

Sorry I'm so far behind on this. Just now recovered from a cold. I'm well for now though.

Hmmmm......So hard to pick which one is my favorite book, considering that there is so many. For instance, I really do liked Abby in Wonderland, considering that it had a Alice in Wonderland theme to it. Plus it features Abby's family. And I could relate to the breast cancer thing, considering I had a great aunt who had died of breast cancer and another one who died of breast cancer too.  And   I liked the Bsc bringing Sea City to the Pikes. I thought it was a nice subplot.

But if I had to choose, It would probably have to be Claudia and the Sad Goodbye. Reason why is because Claudia's bond with her grandmother Mimi reminded me of my bond with my great- grandfather Ralph. Plus Claudia getting mad  at the doctors due to Mimi's death reminded me of of the way I reacted to my great-grandpa's death. I also liked the plot with Corrine and Claudia in it. And I liked Claudia's tribute to Mimi in the end and the Mimi stories. So I choose Claudia and The Sad Goodbye.

Bsc 30 Day Challenge Day 2: Least Favorite Sitter

Ok I'm a little late in this (once again I'm coming down with sinuses) but I'm hanging in there though.

Ok my least favorite sitter is a tie between Kristy and Dawn because it seems that no matter how many times I reread the Babysitters Club books , somehow I'm always getting annoyed by either Kristy or Dawn's antics or bossiness. But I will say Kristy is the one I can't stand the most.

I know it's pretty shocking considering she's based off of Ann M Martin's friend and all and because she's the one who created the Babysitter's Club but still. I guess it's also because most of her books are either stupid or just plain boring. And for the fact that she just won't admit she's wrong at times. Or that she commited a crime herself in the book "Kristy and The Copycat". So yeah Kristy is my least favorite sitter.

sorry to all Kristy and Dawn fans out there.

30 Day Bsc Challenge Day 1: Favorite Sitter

I'm probably late in this, but I don't care. I'm participating in this challenge and I'll put up a link to Greer's website:

Here's also the link to the Bsc forum where the original one is at:

Ok to start it off, My favorite sitter is a tie between Mary Anne, Claudia, Abby, and Stacey. I say this because if there was ever a top 5 favorite sitter in the Bsc one, I would pick them along with Shannon because I thought all 5 of these girls were cool. Plus they remind me a lot of myself. Like Mary Anne, I grew up living with strict guardians (only it was grandparents) and I wanted a lot more freedom too. Plus I'm known for being extremely sensitive and a good listener as well as giving good advice. And I also had a boyfriend like Logan Bruno. I'm also a lot like Stacey too as well as Claudia and Abby. It's really hard to pick.

But if it comes to a choice, I would probably say Abby. I guess cause like Abby, I'm prone to allergies and sinuses. Also, like Abby I like to tell jokes and puns, and I'm also known for speaking my mind and may I add I'm also a fan of Elvis Presley as well as Dolly Parton. Oh and that I hate Febuary also. Plus I like almost all the books featuring her and her family and that it was so different from her family. I could also add that I'm known for having thick curly hair also. So for that I pick Abby.

Again it was really hard to pick as I said, I love Abby, Claudia, Stacey, and Mary Anne. Oh well.

I'm Back: Sorry For The Long Hiatus

Hello everyone. Sorry for the long hiatus. I know I haven't been blogging in a long time, which I will explain.

You see a lot of things have happened, but I will sum it up like this:

1. I found love:  It happened at a anime convention called Youma Con in Detroit, Michigan, where I was going for a couple of days. Next thing I know, at the cosplay ball, I met the guy of my dreams. He has everything that I want in a man, plus he's nice, sweet, and good-looking, as well as intelligent. And we both love anime and manga as well as Japanese culture. So far it's been 2 years since we started dating. We plan to get married in the future.

2. Been battling Sinus problems: As I'm sure you've read in some of my posts I've been having allergy and sinus problems for a while. In fact, recently I came down with a sinus infection and I had to recover for a while. So far things have gotten a little better, but I will still have symptoms from time to time.

3. I was in a car accident on June 27th, 2012: It happened as soon as me and a couple of friends were coming home from a party. Next thing you know a truck had struck the car that we was in, and me and my friends had to go to the hospital, where I ended up getting sprained muscles, while my other friends had to remain in the hospital for a while. We all were hurt pretty badly. Had to recover for a while. Still recovering from that one.

4. I got a new baby brother on March 7th, 2012: His name is Quame and he's adorable. He's also very intelligent for his age and pretty tough. I'm very  fond of my baby brother.

So all these things have happened and that's why I haven't posted for a while. But I'm back now, and I still have my Babysitters Club books. I will also continue to do reviews on my World of Lurlene McDaniel `blog. So be on the lookout for both and hopefully hear from you guys. I missed you guys so much!

In the meantime look for Bsc Book 44: Dawn And The Big Sleepover coming soon. And my friends in Japan are doing well  and are safe (for I recieved a call from them last week saying they are recovering well and are doing alright, but that they lost their homes and is moving elsewhere.) Other than that they are doing ok.

So thanks and hope to hear from you guys soon.

Bsc Book 124: Stacey Mcgill.....Matchmaker?

One of the later books in the series where Stacey tries to hook her mom up with one of the clients of the kids she's babysitting for. While I find that strange and quite stupid, however I do kinda admire Stacey for the fact that she's trying to keep her mom from being a lonely, miserable spinster. Also, I guess since Stacey's dad is hooking up with Samantha now, I guess Stacey is trying to make sure her mom hooks up with someone else too.

On The Cover:

Plot: Lately Stacey is beginning to worry about her mother as her mother hasn't been dating any men since her and Ed Mcgill (Stacey's father), has broke up. So Stacey starts thinking of ways to make her mother's life happy by hooking her up with one of her client's dad, Mr. Brooke, who is new to the Bsc and had just gotten a divorce from his wife, who now lives out in Atlanta working as a television reporter for a big news station. So Mr. Brooke and Maureen hook up and begin dating, and this causes John (Mr.Brooke's first name)'s kids to start acting like brats and make Stacey and her mother's life miserable, mainly Stacey's. Things did not get better until when Stacey starts spending more time to get to know Joni and realizes that Joni is still recovering from her parents' divorce and needs time to heal from that. John and Maureen later break up and Joni now thinks that she is to blame for their breakup. Luckily Stacey makes up with Joni by giving her a present and making Joni and her brother Ewan as her honorary brother and sister. That's all!

Sub Plot: Pretty much leads to the next book where Mallory and Jessi have a fight about Mallory moving off to Massachusetts to go to that boarding school that specializes in writing and creative arts. As you know, Mallory's been having problems at school since Book 122: Kristy In Charge, the one where Kristy and Alan get into a fight and Mallory teaching to a class full of 8th graders in English. Well Mallory decides to look around for other schools, and The Bsc doesn't want Mallory to go. Because things will never be the same with Mallory gone and who else would cover all of the Bsc jobs in the afternoon. (I know mean thought but it does kinda make sense.)

1. Man is Joni such a bitch. And I thought Karen was terrible and Jenny Prezzioso was spoiled, but these two don't have nothing on Joni Brooke. This girl makes Karen look like a total angel (and make her want to have a run for her own money.)
2. Wow I really like how Maureen Mcgill handles her relationship and doesn't go off and marry the first man she sees after getting divorced and all like say Kristy's mom and others. No wonder why her and Abby's mom are my favorite type of parents.
3. I also like how she tries not to spoil her daughter and treats her like a responsible girl. Sharon should take notes.
4. Even though I find Joni to be a bitch, I can't help but feel sorry for her, seeing as her parents had just gotten divorced and her mom would rather have a career than be a housewife.
5. And just like most minor characters, we never hear from the Brooke family again. Not that i care too much for them, except for Ewan. He was pretty cool.
6. Stacey and her mom have a mother and daughter reading club and the book they were talking about is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I gotta read that book when I get a chance. That Elizabeth sounds interesting.
7. Stacey confirms about her father's wealth in the first chapter of this book in case your interested.
8. Joni is a fan of Hanson. Good times ^_^

Not exactly my favorite, but not the worst either. At least this book is pretty decent compared to the next one, which is pretty horrible. And will have you wishing you didn't read it. (which i'll do next time.
